Press Through

"And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.'..."
(2 Corinthians 12:9, NKJV)

We all go through seasons of difficulty and face storms in life.

But during those times, we have to remember that Almighty God is greater than any struggle we face!

He'll take those challenges and use them to strengthen us, but we have to do our part and take a step of faith toward the victory.

Think about the caterpillar before it becomes a butterfly.

When it's wrapped in its dark cocoon on the backside of some tree, it doesn't look like it has many options.

But when it becomes a butterfly inside that cocoon, it doesn't just sit and wait for someone to come and let it out.

No, that butterfly knows that it has to make a move if it's going to be set free to fly.

In the same way, we have to do something to get out of the confining places we are in.

We have to pray, we have to believe, and we have to press through to victory.

Today, no matter what you may be facing, remember, His grace is sufficient for you.

His STRENGTH is made perfect in you.

He has given you EVERYTHING you need to overcome in this life.

NOW is the time to break free and rise to new levels because He has victory and blessing prepared for you!

A Prayer for Today

"Heavenly Father, thank You for the strength to make it through any challenge I may face.
I choose to put my trust in You.
I declare that You are good and faithful.
Thank You for equipping me for victory in every area of my life in Jesus' name.

I speak softly to you, in the depths of your being.

Your mind shuttles back and forth, hither and yon, weaving webs of anxious confusion.

As My thoughts rise up within you, they become entangled in those sticky webs of worry.

Thus, My voice is muffled, and you hear only "white noise."

Ask My Spirit to quiet your mind so that you can think My thoughts.

This ability is an awesome benefit of being My child, patterned after My own image.

Do not be deafened by the noise of the world or that of your own thinking.

Instead, be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

Sit quietly in My Presence, letting My thoughts reprogram your thinking.

Happy Weekend All and Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there!!! :)

Stay Strong!!

THIS IS the secret of living victoriously.

Your tendency is to gaze at problems for prolonged periods of time, glancing at Me for help.

This is natural for someone with a fallen mind living in a fallen world.

However, I have called you to live supernaturally, and I have empowered you to do so.

The Holy Spirit, who lives in all My followers, enables you to live beyond yourself—to transcend your natural tendencies.

Ask My Spirit to help you fix your gaze on Me.

Invite Him to alert you whenever you get overly focused on problems so you can redirect your attention to Me.

This is hard work, because it is not only unnatural but also countercultural.

Moreover, the evil one and his demons seek to distract you from My Presence.

All these influences working together put massive pressure on you to pay attention to your problems—or else!

So you need the assistance of My Spirit continually.

Ask Him to help you deal with difficulties as needed, while reserving the bulk of your attention for Me—your constant Companion.

"Tag Me".....

I know how weary you are, My child.

You have been struggling just to keep your head above water, and your strength is running low.

Now is the time for you to stop striving and let Me fight for you.

I know this is not easy for you to do.

You feel as if you must keep struggling in order to survive, but I am calling you to rest in Me.

I am working on your behalf; so be still, and know that I am God.

Quieting your body is somewhat challenging for you, but stilling your mind may often seem downright impossible.

In your striving to feel secure, you have relied too heavily on your own thinking.

This struggle to be in control has elevated your mind to a position of autonomy.

So you need the intervention of the Holy Spirit.

Ask Him to control your mind more and more— soothing you from the inside out.

Take time to rest in the shadow of the Almighty while I fight for you.

Guarantee.... In Times of Need

Today's mass and accompanying (thank you Magnificat) readings were ANYTHING but subtle in their clear message on this beautiful Monday morning!!

For anyone seeking reassurance, reminders, or confirmation of God's everlasting, guaranteed and pervasive presence/help in our lives - especially in times of darkness, trials and challenges - you need not look any further than today's mass and daily liturgy!!

Here is a brief summary:

R. Taste and see the goodness of the Lord.
Glorify the LORD with me,
let us together extol his name.
I sought the LORD, and he answered me
and delivered me from all my fears.
R. Taste and see the goodness of the Lord.
Look to him that you may be radiant with joy,
and your faces may not blush with shame.
When the poor one called out, the LORD heard,
and from all his distress he saved him.
R. Taste and see the goodness of the Lord.
The angel of the LORD encamps
around those who fear him, and delivers them.
Taste and see how good the LORD is;
blessed the man who takes refuge in him.
R. Taste and see the goodness of the Lord.

In short what can we expect from the Lord?

Deliverance from all FEAR..
Safety from all DISTRESS .....
REFUGE in times of strife and trouble...
FREEDOM from Shame...
Radiant JOY...

Wait gets better!!

Psalm 46

"By waiting and by calm you shall be saved/in quiet and in trust your strength lies.
(Is 30:15B)

"God in his power is refuge and strength,:God in his Mercy is the river that refreshes the soul: God in His Beauty stills all OUR USELESS struggles and gathers us into peace"

"God is for us a refuge and strength,
a helper close at hand in times of distress:
so we shall not fear though the Earth should Rock, Though the mountains fall into the depths of the sea,  Even though it's waters rage and foam, Even though the mountains be shaken by its waves."

What?  Not enough encouragement to get you through Monday morning?

"The Lord has spoken/ who formed me as his servant from the womb?/ and I am made glorious in the sight of the Lord/and my God is now my strength."

"You are a helper close at hand in time of distress/ grant peace of heart to all who are Troubled and Afraid"

"You are in our midst when life's ills assail us: keep our hearts fixed on You amid all disturbances"

"Your word is the River of Life which gives Joy to your people:  refresh in prayer all who are burdened."

Hold on....

"Almighty and ever living God, your word is The Rock in which we take REFUGE against all outer disturbances and inner turmoil.

Put forth upon your people the refreshing stream of Living Water which wells up from the heart of your Son that we may dwell together in inward and outward peace."

Yes...even more from just today....

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all encouragement, who encourages us in our every Affliction, so that we may be able to encourage those who are in any Affliction with the encouragement with which we ourselves are encouraged by God."
(Cor 14:7)

And finally....

"The Lord is my Rock, my Fortress, and my Deliverer/ my God is my Saving Strength."

I don't know about you but that was more than enough for me today and will certainly Carry Me well beyond just today alone!!!

Power in Weakness

Happy weekend!!  Stay Strong!! :)

JUST as the sun is at the center of the solar system, so I am at the center of your entire being—physical, emotional, and spiritual.

I, the Mighty One who created the universe, live inside you!

Let this amazing truth reverberate in your mind and soak into your innermost being.

Ponder what it means to have so much Power dwelling inside you.

One implication is that you don't need to worry about your lack of strength.

In fact, my Power shows itself most effective in your weakness.

Remind yourself frequently that I live inside you and I am mighty!

Let your awareness of My indwelling Presence drive out discouragement and fill you with great Joy.

As My Life flows into yours, you are strengthened with divine might.

"Christians are meant to grow—to become godlier, more loving, more self-controlled, better at persevering—so we don't stagnate spiritually.

Spiritual growth doesn't happen automatically, accidentally, or overnight.

Spiritual growth is a lifetime process we never outgrow.

It takes conscious effort—every effort, in fact.

The perfectionist in me finds this both overwhelming and comforting—overwhelming because I want to be done growing (meaning perfect) yesterday; comforting because I realize I'm not supposed to be done growing yet.

Character is built slowly: step-by-step, choice by choice, even mistake by mistake, one strength building on another over time.

Smack in the middle of this character-building process we find the trait we desperately need when we are waiting: PERSEVERE!

Now let's pair this passage with what James says about perseverance:

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."
 JAMES 1:2–4

Did you catch that last phrase—

"let perseverance finish its work"—as in it's up to us to allow that work to happen so we can grow?

As in trials produce perseverance, and perseverance can lead to spiritual maturity, but we have to let it happen, not fight the process? (I know, probably not what you wanted to hear—me neither.)

If we let Him, God can use our waiting journeys to shape us, to make us into the people He created us to be.

Waiting seasons aren't fun, but they are opportunities.

Through our waiting seasons—yes, through the not knowing—we can build character one step at a time.

Through our waiting seasons, perseverance can gradually "finish" its never-ending work in us.

As waiting does its thing, and God does His, we get the chance to become our best selves, the people God designed us to be."

From "When God Says Wait" by Elizabeth Laing Thompson

Monday, June 5, 2017

"And so, armed with our unintentionally asterisked waiting passages, we wait.

We pray.

We read more waiting passages.

We pray some more.

We try not to fidget.

We delight in God.

We delight in God some more.

We humbly remind God that we are delighting in Him (teeth gritted, fists clenched, neck veins popping, but doggone it, if we were any more delighted, we'd have a heart attack).

We alter our request to make it sound more spiritual, more like a prayer God would want to say yes to.

We read more waiting passages.

We get radical, and we fast.

We ask friends to pray for us and fast with us.

Time passes.

Too much time.

More time than we'd ever imagined.

As faith fades, doubts bloom.

We question God, the Bible, ourselves.

The longer God's silence stretches, the more things start to break inside.

I don't know what you are waiting for right now, but we all are waiting for something.

If you're like me, you're waiting on several somethings.

Sometimes The Thing we seek is not even a thing, but a feeling: peace, joy, relief, release, security, home.

For many of us, waiting seasons are the first time our faith has been truly tested.

They present risk and opportunity in equal measure, making us ask the hard faith questions, making us fight to find—and accept—the answers.

Yes, No, Wait, and…Maybe

You have probably heard some preacher say, "When you ask God for something, He gives one of three answers: Yes, no, or wait."

It's a good point, a nice sermon illustration.

It makes sense.

But the problem is, yes is obvious.

Yes means you get what you want.

End of story, end of prayer request.

Time to begin offering prayers of thanksgiving.

Yes is wonderful.

Yes is what we want every single time we ask God for something.

Yes doesn't happen nearly as often, or as quickly, as we'd like.

And then there's no: Sometimes no is just no.

You want to marry so-and-so, but he marries someone else.

End of story.

Find another guy.

But it's not always that clear-cut.

The problem lies between the no and the wait.

Because really, it's tough to tell the difference.

Sometimes we think God's answer is no, but later—weeks, months, even decades later—the answer we thought was a no turns into a yes, so it turns out we actually had a "wait" all along."

VOICE your TRUST in Me, and seek to become aware of My Love all around you.

Breathe in the Peace of My Presence: Peace that transcends understanding.

Take time, take time with Me.

To experience the Joy of My Presence, you need to sit quietly, focusing your thoughts on Me.

Say no to plans and problems as they try to creep into your mind.

Say yes to Me—to My Joy and Peace, My unfailing Love.

Living close to Me is all about transcendence.

The world is full of trouble, but I have overcome the world!

I call you to transcend your troubles by looking up to Me.

Assert your confidence in Me, saying:

"I trust You, Jesus. You are my Hope."

Short prayers such as these—voiced almost continuously—will help you live transcendently: seated with Me in heavenly realms.

I am training you to be an overcomer—unfettered by circumstances.

Break Free

"About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone's chains came loose."
(Acts 16:25-26, NIV)

Praising in the Midnight Hour

Paul and Silas were put in jail for spreading good news.

It wasn't fair.

They were beaten with rods without a trial.

It was unjust.

As they sat in the prison, bloody, bruised and uncomfortable, they began to sing praises to God.

All of the sudden, there was a great earthquake.

The prison doors flung open, the chains fell off and they walked out as free men. What happened?

They praised their way to victory!

If we're going to live in victory, we have to know how to praise in our midnight hour—when things seem the darkest, when we're in pain, disappointed, lonely or experiencing a loss.

When you praise Him NO MATTER WHAT, that's when God can enter your situation.

That's when He can break your chains and set you free!

Even if you aren't in a difficult season, remember, praise paves the way to victory.

Praise is what we are called to do!

Today, Praise Him, not because of how you feel but because He is worthy!

Praise Him in your midnight hour and get ready to embrace the freedom and victory He has prepared for you!

A Prayer for Today

"Father, right now I lift my heart to You. I declare that You are worthy to be praised, and Your worth doesn't change because of my circumstances. I will bless You in the midnight hour knowing that You are good, and You have victory and freedom in store for me in Jesus' name!

Cast it on Me...No Matter

No matter what your circumstances may be, I can—and will—carry you through them.

Sometimes you are weighed down by a situation that seems too heavy for you.

Do not try to cope with this burden alone.

Instead, bring it into My Presence and cast it on Me, releasing it into My care and keeping.

Although your circumstances may not change right away, you can find real relief through this process.

Casting your burden on Me is a spiritual transaction.

You acknowledge that I am in charge of your life and that outcomes are ultimately My domain.

This lightens your load immensely, relieving you from feeling responsible for things beyond your control.

When you come to Me weary and burdened, I have promised that I will give you rest.

Take My yoke upon you—trusting in My unfailing Love—and let Me carry your heavy load.

SOMETIMES THE CIRCUMSTANCES of your life (and the condition of this world) make it difficult for you to be joyful.

When you're searching for Joy, where do you turn?

One of the best places to find true Joy is in hope.

I want you to know the hope to which I have called you—the riches of My glorious inheritance.

Since you are a co-heir with Me, this blessing is definitely for you.

When present circumstances are weighing you down, grasp onto hope for dear life!

It will help you not only to survive but to thrive—to live joyously.

In some ways, hope is like a hot-air balloon.

It is very buoyant, so it can lift you up above your troubles.

It enables you to soar in the heavens with Me—helping you see things from a heightened, big-picture perspective.

To embark on this heavenly journey, you must climb into the basket beneath the balloon—by trusting fully that your hope in Me will not let you down.

Do not interpret this as a sign of My displeasure with you.

It is simply part of living in a fallen, sin-stained world.

Remember that you are not alone: I am with you, and your brothers throughout the world are experiencing the same kind of sufferings as you.

Laden With Worries

It is easy to trust Me for a while—especially when things are going well in your life.

But I am calling you to trust in Me at ALL times, no matter what is happening.

I understand what a difficult assignment this is, and I know that you will sometimes fail in this venture.

But I continue to love you perfectly even when you don't succeed.

Let this assurance of My unfailing Love draw you back to Me—back to trusting Me.

Though your trust is imperfect and unsteady, I am the Rock eternal—absolutely steady and unchanging.

You can rely on Me!

When your walk through this world feels wobbly, remember that I am your Rock.

I always provide a stable place for you to stand.

Belly of the Whale

Happy Monday!!  STAY STRONG!!!

"Since we have the same spirit of faith…we also believe, and so we also speak."
(2 Corinthians 4:13, ESV)

Say What?

Scripture says, "The spirit of faith is in our words."

My question today is, "What's coming out of your mouth?"

Are you talking about how big your problems are, or are you talking about how big your God is?

As believers, our attitude should always be an attitude of praise—

"Father, business may be slow, but I want to thank You that You're supplying all of my needs."

"My circumstance may seem impossible, but thank You, God, that all things are possible with You!"

We should always find a reason to give thanks!

This is what Jonah did.

After complaining for eight verses, he had a change of heart in verse nine.

He said, "God, in spite of my difficulties, I'm going to offer unto You the sacrifice of praise with a voice of thanksgiving."

While sitting in the belly of the whale, instead of complaining, he began to worship.

The next verse says that the whale spit him out onto dry ground, and he went on to fulfill his destiny.

If you feel like you're in the belly of a whale, if you feel trapped, if things seem dark, remember, praise always precedes the victory!

Open your mouth and declare His praises!

Say what the Word says and watch the breakthrough come to pass!

A Prayer for Today

"Father God, I humbly come to You in the precious name of Jesus Christ. I commit my words and thoughts to You. I choose to say what the Word says. I choose to speak the truth and trust that You are working for my good in Jesus' name.

Strength and Victory!!

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me..."
(Psalm 23:4, NKJV)

Walk Through

Do you ever feel like you are walking through the valley of the shadow of death?

During the tough times, it's easy to get discouraged.

I love what it says in the verse, "though I walk through…"

No matter what you are facing today, know this: you are not alone, and you are just walking through.

You don't have to stop and live in the tough times.

They are only temporary!!

I encourage you today; don't allow fear to paralyze you in the middle of "the valley of the shadow of death."

Remember, God is with you.

He is walking beside you.

He is Strengthening you.

He is making a way of escape for you.

He is lining up people and situations to bring you out of that tough place into a place of Strength and Victory.

Don't give up!

Press on and walk through!

Begin to get a vision of your life on the other side.

See yourself more loving, more faithful, stronger and more blessed than ever before.

As you keep moving forward and walking through, you will get to the other side and experience the victory God has in store for you!

Through the Darkness

WHEN YOU ARE GOING THROUGH A DARK time—a hard time—it's easy to project that darkness into the future.

The longer you struggle with adverse circumstances, the darker the way before you appears—and the harder it is to imagine yourself walking along bright paths again.

The temptation is to just give up and let misery become your companion.

So it is crucial at such times to remember that I am your CONSTANT Companion.

Moreover, because I am Sovereign God, I am able to turn your darkness into Light.

When you feel on the verge of sinking in despair, turn to Me for help!

Cling to My hand, and walk by faith through the darkness!

Do not focus on the circumstances that are weighing you down.

Instead, through eyes of faith, look ahead to brighter times, and praise Me for them.

While you worship Me in the midst of darkness, I enable you to see the first gleam of dawn on the path before you.

Continue walking worshipfully with Me—a walk of faith.

As you persevere along this path, the dim light will gradually shine brighter and brighter till the full light of day.

The Only One...

There is a deep, deep yearning in your heart for safety and security.

You can mask these longings with activity for a time, but only for a time.

These feelings actually serve a very good purpose.

Properly used, they can point you to Me and My sufficiency.

I am the only One who can really, ultimately keep you safe.

Whenever you start to feel insecure—about anything—come to Me.

Talk with Me about your fears and concerns; then affirm your trust in Me.

Voicing your trust connects you with Me at a deep level.

It also pushes back the darkness of deception.

The evil one has been deceiving people ever since time began, since the Garden of Eden.

Do not listen to his lies.

Instead, put your trust in Me, for I am absolute Truth.

As you come to know Me—the Truth—better and better, I make you increasingly free.

True Faith

"About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them."
ACTS 16: 25

As Christians, we say we walk by faith, but do we fully understand what it means?

Jeremiah preached faithfully for more than sixty years without ever having a positive response to his message.

In fact, he faced being stoned to death.

But he lived by faith!

When the apostle Paul was thrown into prison because he'd preached the gospel of Jesus Christ, he lived by faith.

In fact, Paul prayed and sang hymns to God in prison.

Can you imagine what those jailers must have thought?

I doubt very much that Paul felt like singing.

But he had learned to live by faith, NOT by his feelings.

God commands you and me to exercise our will, to make the deliberate, conscious choice to walk by FAITH.

Start Trusting God!

Live by faith in Him — and in His Word!!

The rest will take care of itself!

Temporary Trouble

"For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all."
 -  2 Corinthians 4:17

You may not call your troubles right now "light" and "momentary," but they are.

When we see our troubles compared with others', they don't seem so heavy.

We also have a God who asks us to come to Him with our burdens and He will give us rest.

Our troubles won't last forever.

They may last a day or a few years, but with an eternal perspective, they are only a moment—the equivalent of one second when we use an eternal calendar.

We must also see those troubles as achieving something greater—an eternal glory.

Those troubles introduce people to God's love and strength.

Outsiders watch a Christian's reaction to troubles and understand true faith.

The temporary is achieving the eternal.

It's tough now.

It'll be glorious later."

Don't Worry - Pray!

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."
- 79 Philippians 4:6

Don't worry.

About anything.

Worry, many feel, is their duty when hit with stress.

They think that by worrying they are doing something and are therefore engaged in the solution.

Worry solves nothing; it only makes things worse for yourself.

Philippians 4:6 says don't worry . . . pray.

Present your need before God and leave it there.

If you went to valet parking and left your car with the attendant but worried about it all during dinner, you would have a terrible time.

You are saying you don't trust the attendant, and that the car was more important than dinner.

When stressed, we need to leave our worries with God and walk away.

If we worry, we're saying that we don't trust God with the keys to our lives.

We lose appreciation for what else He's given us.

We think He doesn't hear us or care.

Worry solves nothing.

Presenting your need to God and leaving it there for Him to handle solves EVERYTHING."

Your Boss

"For exaltation (promotion) comes neither from the east nor from the west nor from the south. But God is the Judge: He puts down one, and exalts another."
(Psalm 75:6-7, NKJV)

When God is Your Boss

I know this man who was upset because his boss was really against him.

The boss was always trying to make him look bad and would never give him any kind of recognition.

The truth is that his boss was jealous of him.

But, this man just kept being his best, working unto God.

There were several promotions that he should have received, but because of this unfair boss, he was passed over.

One day the CEO of the corporation was in town, and this man had to make a presentation.

The CEO was very impressed.

About a year later, a position became available that should have gone to the man's boss, but the CEO bypassed the boss and called this man directly.

Today, instead of working for the unfair boss, the tables have turned.

The boss is working for him.

Always remember, promotion comes from the Lord.

When you stay faithful and keep a right attitude, that's when God will promote you.

One touch of His favor and things will totally turn around!

Keep abiding.

Keep being faithful.

Stay on that high road.

God will make your wrongs right and promote you in your due season!

A Prayer for Today

"Father God, today I humbly submit myself to You because You are good and faithful. I choose to work and live according to Your Word because I love You and desire to honor You. I receive Your mercy and grace today so I can live a life pleasing to You in Jesus' name. Amen."

Declare Your Trust

TRUSTING ME is the alternative to falling into despair or escaping into unreality.

When you're in the midst of adversity, it can be hard to think clearly.

Yet this is when it's vitally important to make wise decisions.

Sometimes it's as if choices are swirling around you, waiting for you to grab onto the right one.

However, there is one choice that is always appropriate and always effective: the decision to TRUST Me with all your heart and mind.

If you're on the verge of sliding into the depths of despair, stop and DECLARE Your Trust in Me.

Whisper it, speak it, shout it!

Spend some time thinking about all the reasons you have for being confident in Me.

Remember and rejoice in My endless, unfailing Love for you.

If you've been numbing your pain through denial of reality, expressing your trust can bring you into contact with ultimate Reality—Me!

Confide in Me, beloved, for I am infinitely knowing.

I understand everything about your circumstances, and I WILL help you!

Just simply Ask!!

"Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding."

"But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God's unfailing love for ever and ever."
—PSALM 52:8

"For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you."

Cast All Anxiety...

Happy Monday!!

THE PRESENT MOMENT is the point at which time intersects eternity.

It is also the place where you can encounter Me—your eternal Savior.

So keep your thoughts focused on the present as much as you can, enjoying My Presence here and now.

Invite Me into whatever you are engaged in.

Ask Me to help you do your work heartily.

Working collaboratively with Me lightens your load and enables you to be more effective.

Share with Me not only your work but also your leisure—thanking Me for both.

When something upsets you, don't let fearful or obsessive thoughts take over your mind.

Instead, talk with Me about whatever is troubling you.

Then cast all your anxiety on Me, knowing that I care for you.

If you ask, I will open your eyes and awaken your heart so you can see more fully all that the present contains.

I delight in meeting with you in your wide-awake heart!

"I came into the world so that you may have life in abundance—till it overflows. Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men."

"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."
—1 PETER 5:7

"The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows)."

Abundance in All Things

"...I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."
(John 10:10, NKJV)

Are you living the abundant life Jesus came to give?

I'm not talking about living in the fanciest house or driving the newest car.

No, His promise of abundant life goes way beyond material things that this world offers.

Abundant life means "life to the full."

That means no matter what is going on around you, you can partake of the full blessings of God.

You can have peace in the midst of a storm.

You can have joy when things are uncertain.

You can have hope when circumstances seem hopeless.

As believers, a lot of times it's easy to look at that verse and think, "God is going to give me abundant life someday."

But the truth is that God wants you to have abundant life TODAY!

Don't waste another second living in mediocrity or settling for less than God's best.

Receive His blessings by faith today.

Receive His Hope, Joy, Strength and Favor.

Declare that you are living the abundant life today and every day!

"A Prayer for Today"

Father, thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus, so that I can have eternal life. I know that You want the best for me. Help me to keep my heart and mind focused on You so that I can walk in Your ways all the days of my life in Jesus' name.

Never Over...

'We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed." (NKJV)
   --  2 Corinthians 4:8–9

No matter how bad it seems, how surrounded you feel on all sides, how overwhelmed and inundated your situation has become . . . it's NEVER OVER!!

Paul felt that in his ministry.

Opposition constantly hammered his efforts to reach people for Christ.

That didn't mean it was all over.

You can take a two-by-four to a car and smash out all the windows and headlights, and dent every inch of the hood and side panels, and the car will still drive.

It'll look terrible, but it will get you places.

If you're beat up, don't give up.

If you're struck down, don't stay down.

It may look bad, but it's not hopeless.

God paid the price for beaten lives.

He's in the restoration business."

Our "True North"

"For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints." (NKJV)
    -- 1 Corinthians 14:33

"If you're lost and confused, unable to make heads or tails of the situation, trying to find your way out of a dark tunnel with no idea where the exit is . . . that's not God's fault.

If things are spinning out of control, falling apart and there's no order in the court . . . don't blame God.

God is not about confusion and disorder.

He makes sense.

He's clear as day. He is light.

He is the way.

You can't get lost with God.

Confusion is not from God.

Nor is chaos.

Those things happen when a person looks somewhere besides God, making detours that made sense at the time but eventually led nowhere.

If things are chaotic in your world, it's because you're trying to do things by your own effort.

You trust only yourself to get it done.

You may be working with a group of people but soon learn that they all have their own compasses, pointing in different directions.

Make God your true north.

USE HIM as a flashlight in darkness.

Follow His straight path to righteousness.

Everything makes sense to God.

He's at peace and wants you to join Him."

Who Can Be Against Us?

"What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?"
Romans 8:31

"If God is for you, on your side, cheering you on, what opponent could possibly overcome Him?

We want life to be like a blowout in sports.

A blowout occurs when one team scores in the opening seconds and continues to pound the opponents with more points, blocking the opponents from ever scoring. 48–0. 76–0. 102–0.

Life isn't like that.

We face forces that push back and get ahead at times.

We'll score big in a relationship, then lose a job.

Or we'll ace our exam, only to have our car stolen.

We'll see a prayer answered, then get bad news from the doctor.

During those times we want to think God has lost His edge, that the enemy found His weakness and we're doomed to lose.

As long as we live on earth, the score will go up and down.

All God promises is that at the final buzzer, all those who believe in Him will win.

It might seem like a close game, but it's not.

No matter how difficult life may have been, a believer in Christ will stand in the winner's circle with Jesus, holding His hand high.

You will win because God is eternally for you!"

Shared Grief

"O LORD, hear my prayer, and let my cry come to you.
Hide not your face from me in the day of my distress."
    ~ Ps 102.2-3

Praise in a Minor Key

We're not supposed to doubt that God hears us; we're not supposed to question his whereabouts; we're not supposed to cry, "How dare you?"

It makes us uneasy to admit that we feel angry at or disappointed in God.

We may worry that we are being disrespectful or even blasphemous if we express anything short of good old-fashioned praise and glory.

Many psalms invite us to loosen the shackles of propriety in our prayer.

Indeed, today's verses are thick with the anguish of unresolved pain:

"Hide not your face from me in the day of my distress."

And God does sometimes seem to go missing in our moment of greatest need.

In giving us permission to lament this felt absence, to express our frustration, the psalms broaden the possibilities for prayer.

It is a curious paradox that the Psalms are entitled Tehillim, which in Hebrew means "Praises," because in fact the psalms of lament outnumber the psalms of praise.

Could it be that we praise God NOT by presenting him a nicely-wrapped catalog of "appropriate" sentiments when we pray, but by offering all the contents of our hearts, including pain, doubt, anger, and fear?

The American poet Richard Wilbur conveys this beautifully in his poem "Psalm." After four stanzas that connect the thanksgivings and praises of the psalms with the bright sounds of the lute, the horn, the flute, and the drum, he ends:

"Then, in grave relief, / Praise too our sorrows on the / Cello of shared grief."

Compassionate God, Grant that I may sing your praises always, in major and minor keys alike.

Perfectly Matched

Happy Monday All!!!

"Here is what I have seen: It is good and fitting for one to eat and drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labor in which he toils under the sun all the days of his life which God gives him; for it is his heritage."
Ecclesiastes 5:18, NKJV)

Focus on What You Have

The scripture talks about how God has given us the power to enjoy what is allotted and appointed to us.

That simply means that I don't have the power to enjoy your life.

You may have more success, more money, more friends or a better job, but if you put me in your life, I'm not going to enjoy it.

We are uniquely designed to run our own race.

When we truly understand and embrace this, we won't be tempted to compare or wish we had what someone else has.

You won't think, "If only I had their talent…"

No, if God wanted you to have that talent, He would have given it to you.

Instead, take what you have and develop it.

Make the most of it.

Don't think, "If only I had her looks…"

No, God gave you your looks.

That's not an accident.

The life you have has been perfectly matched for you.

Now, you've got to do your part and get excited about your life.

Be excited about who you are—your looks, your talent, your ability, your personality.

When you're passionate about who you are, it brings honor to God.

That's when God will breathe in your direction and the seeds of greatness in you will take root and begin to flourish!

A Prayer for Today

"Father, I thank You for giving me the gifts, talents and abilities to enjoy life and accomplish Your will. Today, I choose to put my trust and hope in You knowing that You have equipped me for the destiny You have for me in Jesus' name.

Refresh and Restore

"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled."
(Matthew 5:6, NIV)

Sometimes, it's easy to get wrapped up in taking care of the people around us.

You may find that you're always giving, taking care of the children, working overtime at the office, or helping that friend who is struggling. And that's all good.

But if you're not careful, you can end up feeling rundown.

That's why you have to take time every day to get filled back up.

Your first priority should be taking care of yourself and making time to get into the presence of Jesus.

Throughout scripture, we see that in God's presence, there is fullness of joy, fullness of peace, and fullness of victory.

In His presence, you're refreshed and restored.

That's why it's so important to take time every day to read your Bible and meditate on His promises.

We have to be diligent to have quiet time with Him.

Today, take time to get alone with God and just say, "God, I love You today. Thank You for my life, for my family, for the opportunities You've given me. Lord, I know every good thing comes from You."

When you live like that, with your heart connected to His, you'll be refreshed, restored and filled up for the journey of life ahead!

A Prayer for Today
"Father, thank you for filling me with Your strength. Thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus, so that I can be righteous in You. I hunger for Your truth and seek You first. Draw me to You and keep me close to You always in Jesus' name.

Eclipse All Suffering

Happy Monday All!

Below is a terrific reminder that no matter how long the night or darkness feels, dawn and light is promised all of us who believe and dawn is inevitable!

We just have to persevere in Faith and Hope and TRUST above all else and the "Shouts of Joy" will eclipse all suffering and darkness!

Stay Strong and God bless.... :)

Morning Has Broken

"At various times when I have been trudging through a prolonged rough patch, I have become quite convinced that things would never get better.

It doesn't matter that God has drawn me clear of difficulties before; it doesn't matter that God has previously lifted me out of the depths.

When emotional or circumstantial enemies surround me, I lose hope,

I feel stuck, and sometimes, I'm sorry to say, I straight-up wallow in the conviction that I'm always going to be hopeless, stuck, and beset.
While I may know intellectually that life has cycles and that change is always percolating, sometimes I don't own that knowledge emotionally or spiritually.

Today's joyful psalm verses are a wonderful antidote to our tendency to join the Sackcloth and Ashes Squad.

The psalmist doesn't deny the hostility of his enemies or the dangers of the pit.

He acknowledges that weeping and lament get the upper hand at times.

But, buoyed by an infinite trust in God, he embraces the belief that joy will eclipse all suffering, that light conquers darkness, that that love is stronger than death.

Yes, as night comes, weeping often takes a room in our houses (the concrete meaning of the Hebrew verb here is to "stay overnight, to lodge"); but in the morning, as the psalmist says with beautiful conciseness, "shouts of joy."

These Lenten days of penance and sorrow can seem endless, but God will ultimately transmute our waiting and wailing into a dance of joy, as we look hopefully towards the Easter dawn.

"O God of tears and laughter, Bestow upon me a hopeful patience as night falls and I await the morning's shouts of joy."
